KEMSA requests nominations for its annual awards. Anyone is allowed to make nominations unless otherwise noted. A committee selected by the KEMSA Board of Directors will select winning entries. All awards are Kansas Only unless noted that the winner will be forwarded to the National EMT Association (NAEMT) for consideration in NAEMT Award selection.
All award nominations must be submitted electronically by July 9, 2010 using the forms on this website.
All Kansas award winners will be honored at the KEMSA annual meeting and Awards Banquet in Wichita, Kansas on August 14, 2010 in conjunction with the KEMSA “Last Blast of Summer" conference.

Below are the award categories and criteria along with the link to the online nomination form for each award.
Leadership Awards |
Lifetime Achievement Award
Criteria: Individual whose contributions to pre-hospital care have been consistent and long lasting, representing in effect, a lifetime of outstanding service to the profession and to the public.
Eligibility: Any Kansas Certified EMS attendant

In addition to the Lifetime Achievement Award, the KEMSA President will award the
Kansas EMS Presidential Leadership Award.
Criteria: KEMSA member who most helps KEMSA grow and progress
Eligibility: Any KEMSA member

Individual Achievement Awards |
EMT of the Year
Criteria: Kansas EMT who has significantly contributed to EMS at the community, state and/or national level.
Eligibility: Any basic or intermediate EMT or EMT-D whose primary responsibility is providing direct patient care.
Kansas winner will be submitted to NAEMT for consideration for the EMT of the Year Award.

MICT of the Year
Criteria: Any Kansas MICT who has significantly contributed to EMS at the community, state and/or national level.
Eligibility: Any Kansas MICT whose primary responsibility is providing direct patient care.
Kansas winner will be submitted to NAEMT for consideration for the Paramedic of the Year Award.

Donald E. White Educator of the Year Award
Criteria: Outstanding instructor of initial or continuing EMS education.
Eligibility: Any Kansas Instructor Coordinator or Training Officer who is recognized by the Kansas Board of EMS to conduct initial courses of instruction or continuing education instruction.
Kansas winner will be submitted to NAEMT for consideration for the Educator of the Year Award.

Administrator of the Year
Criteria: Administrator who has made a significant contribution to EMS Administration on a local, state or national level.
Eligibility: Any EMS administrator whose primary responsibility is the direction of individuals involved in the delivery of prehospital care.
Kansas winner will be submitted to NAEMT for consideration for the Executive of the Year Award.

Physician of the Year
Criteria: Offered to recognize any Kansas licensed physician who provides commendable
service to the benefit of EMS in Kansas. The physician can be an Emergency
Department physician, service Medical Director or any other physician who has
provided a positive impact to Kansas EMS.
Eligibility: Any Kansas licensed physician.

EMS Support Person of the Year
Criteria: Offered to recognize one of the many individuals whose efforts enhance EMS
in Kansas through their actions as a First Responder, Nurse, Dispatcher, Law
Enforcement Officer, Pilot, Supervisor or other individual who would not fit into the other
categories for individual recognition.
Eligibility: The nomination can speak to either a continuous positive effort that
enhances the quality of EMS or should speak to a specific individual event.

Organizational Achievement Awards |
Community Service Award
Criteria: Awarded to an individual or team who has been involved in the development of innovative approaches to injury / illness prevention or EMS awareness within the community.
Eligibility: Any Kansas Certified EMS attendant or EMS agency licensed by the Kansas Board of EMS.

BLS Emergency Medical Service of the Year
Criteria: EMS system that exemplifies outstanding professionalism and service to the community it serves.
Eligibility: Any Kansas licensed Emergency Medical Service at the basic or intermediate level, except those in which NAEMT leadership participate.
Kansas winner will be submitted to NAEMT for consideration for a Service of the Year Award.

ALS Emergency Medical Service of the Year
Criteria: EMS system that exemplifies outstanding professionalism and service to the community it serves.
Eligibility: Any Kansas licensed Emergency Medical Service at the ALS level, except those in which NAEMT leadership participate.
Kansas winner will be submitted to NAEMT for consideration for a Service of the Year Award.

Cara Everhart Award |
This award is given to an outstanding individual(s) or group that has shown excellence and dedication to pediatric emergency care, childhood injury prevention initiatives, and/or family-centered care. This includes educators, child advocates, and healthcare professionals who work either directly or indirectly with children.
This nomination requires a one page summary statement describing how the nominee meets award criteria and additional materials to support his or her nomination along with a current picture. Please include the nominator's contact information as well.
