The City of Hoisington is accepting applications for the position of Director of the Emergency Medical/Ambulance Division. This position reports to the City Manager. A minimum requirement of the position is Kansas certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, with MICT certification or other ALS experience preferred. Salary range for this position is $38,854 to $53,310 per year. Previous experience may be considered in determining the starting wage. The employee will also be eligible for the City benefit package which includes KPERs; medical, vision and dental insurance covered at 95 percent; and other excellent benefits. This employee will work three to four 12 hour shifts per week (6 a.m. – 6 p.m.). FULL-TIME POSITIONS - Ellis County Ellis County EMS will be conducting pre-employment testing for two (2) full time positions on September 10, 2010. We are currently accepting applications from anyone certified by the Kansas State Board of Emergency Medical Services at the EMT-Basic level or above. Hays, is located in the center of Ellis County, Kansas and is a community of approximately 20,000 citizens, with another 7,000 in the remainder of Ellis County. Hays, is a quiet family town that boasts of the only four year university in the western two-thirds of the state, Fort Hays State University. History is steeped in the county with the old Fort Hays, many historical churches, and a rich ethnic community of German descendants. You will find that Hays and Ellis County offers the advantages of small town living while providing many big city cultural opportunities. Ellis County EMS provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) for the entire 900 square miles of the county, with stations located in Hays, Ellis and Victoria. The technicians work 24 hour shifts and are compensated according to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Our ambulances typically respond to just under 3,000 requests for assistance a year utilizing four responding ALS units. As a county department, fringe benefits include fully paid health insurance (single or family), Kansas Police & Fire retirement system, annual vacation leave, annual sick time, a personal day, a floating holiday, double time pay plus eight additional hours for ten annual holidays, longevity bonus, educational reimbursement and on-duty training. The testing procedures will consist of a written, practical and physical assessment sessions.
