The City of Kingman is currently accepting applications for Full-Time (FT) Paramedic. The FT Paramedic works four 10-hour days per week with typically 1-3 nights of call on scheduled work days. Overtime is paid over 40 hours per week. The department typically works with family schedules to allow flexibility for family events and schedules. We offer paid holidays with no scheduled office time (holidays are covered from home on-call). The City of Kingman offers competitive pay with the city covering 100% cost of excellent Single/Family health and dental insurance plans. The City of Kingman offers KPERS retirement. After 1 year of employment, employees get 12 days of vacation per year (3 weeks for EMS employees). The FT Paramedic must live within the city limits of Kingman (or 10 minutes from the station) with relocation to Kingman within 3 months of date of hire.
Kingman EMS responds to approximately 700-725 calls per year and covers 720 square miles of rural Kansas. The department transports mostly to the local community (critical access) hospital, but due to our rural location, we utilize bypass protocols for critical patients. Kingman EMS paramedics must be comfortable caring for critical patients during long transports. Kingman EMS has liberal protocols in place and utilizes pit-crew CPR. The department utilizes up-to date equipment including Zoll X-Series monitors, Zoll AutoPulse, and tablets for patient reports with ImageTrend Elite. We have three ALS ambulances in Kingman (1 staffed per day) and a BLS response ambulance in Zenda.
