KEMSA Billing Workshop - August 11, 2023
Ambulance Billing Basics & Beyond
KEMSA will host a full-day billing workshop on Friday, August 11 in conjunction with the Annual KEMSA Conference in Mulvane. Complete details are below.
Learn critical tips on how to look at the billing process from when the trip report arrives in billing through the back end of the billing process. We help review your accounts receivable functions to follow-up appropriately, address denials and better manage patient-pay challenges. The presentation will discuss the top areas where ambulance services may experience revenue leakage and the strategies providers can employ to improve outcomes. Topics will include methods to collect patient demographic information, best approach to coding and billing emergencies, knowing whether your service should provide the non-emergency transport based on patient eligibility, proven methods to identify and collect co-pays and deductibles, electronic payment processing options, the submission of claims to appropriate payers (including the rules that govern different payers like Medicare, managed care, Medicaid and commercial plans), the need for transparency with payers, timely follow-up, and self-pay account resolution. We will also discuss the recent regulatory changes that impact self-pay accounts. This session offers indispensable guidance on best practices for ambulance billing success.
