KEMSA BLS Examination Preparation Workshop

WORKSHOP INFORMATION:

KEMSA will host a BLS Examination Preparation Workshop on April 11, 2026 in Colby, KS. This workshop will equip EMS educators with the knowledge and tools to prepare EMR and EMT students for success on the BLS Exam. Come learn best practices on student preparation from EMS Educators and Kansas Board of EMS Staff members.

(Registration from 8:30-9:00 AM, Lunch is on your own, some light refreshments will be provided)

ONLINE REGISTRATION

REGISTRATION:

All registrations will be taken online. You will have the option to pay with credit card or you will automatically be emailed an invoice that you can turn in for payment. All registration fees are due on or before March 31. Make sure to login for the member price.

If you need to register more than one person, just add a guest registration for each additional person you want to include. Then you will get one invoice for everyone.  Or if you are registering someone else, go to the registration form and substitute their information for your information that it fills in.

Registration deadline is March 31 unless the workshop fills up first. Limited to 40 attendees.

Workshop Goals & Objectives:

Goals

  • Stress the importance of a good quality BLS exam board prep to Kansas EMS educators.
  • Show the advantages of a BLS exam prep for Kansas EMR and EMT students.
  • Inform Kansas EMS educators what goes into making the state BLS exam scenarios.
  • Share common causes of BLS exam failures with Kansas EMS educators.
  • Help EMS educators identify their own shortfalls with course instruction or student prep through mock exam scenarios.
  • Kansas EMS educators will be able to apply what is learned in this workshop in their own classes and improve BLS exam outcomes.

Objectives

  • Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to recall the process of developing BLS exam scenarios by the KS Board of EMS.
  • Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to identify common causes of candidate failures at the Kansas BLS practical exams.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of what their students experience in the state BLS practical skills exams.
  • Workshop participants will be able to identify areas of improvement of the BLS exam preps that they conduct for their BLS students and be able to apply them in their courses of instruction.
  • Participants will be able to identify what equipment is needed to conduct a good quality board prep within their initial BLS courses.
  • Workshop participants will be able to develop a plan to ensure that they are offering a good quality board prep experience for their BLS initial education students.
  • Participants of this workshop will be able to perform a self-evaluation at the end of this workshop and identify areas of weakness and opportunity for improvements within their initial instruction of BLS students.

REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY:

No refunds will be issued for this workshop, but a substitution can be made. If you can't attend and can't send a substitute, your balance will still be owed.

HOTEL INFORMATION:

KEMSA has not reserved a hotel block for this workshop.  Rooms are the attendee's responsibility.
